CM1’s smart construction site light sets new standards in precise positioning for construction site management. Using Differential GNSS, the device achieves an impressive accuracy of under 10 centimetres. To further optimise this performance, two innovative antenna designs were tested: a circular helix antenna and a dual-fed GNSS patch antenna. These antennas were specifically selected to meet the challenges of construction site environments. The circular helix antenna offers excellent reception properties in multipath propagation, whilst the dual-fed patch antenna ensures optimal circular polarisation for precise GNSS reception. Through careful field tests and evaluation, the position accuracy was significantly improved without having to make changes to the housing or main circuit board. This resulted in cost savings, faster time-to-market and retention of BASt certification. The improved accuracy opens up new possibilities in construction site management, from more precise monitoring to optimised logistics and increased safety.
