Accelerating IoT innovations: From idea to robust PoC

Antennity invites you to a hands-on workshop. In just 6 hours, we’ll take your initial IoT idea and develop a robust foundation for a proof of concept (PoC) or a minimal function unit (MFU). We’ll structure requirements, evaluate technical options and demonstrate how AI accelerates the development of hardware, antennas, firmware, dashboards and cloud solutions.

We consider scalable roll-out strategies and regulatory requirements, including those under the KRITIS framework law and the CRA. Application areas include, for example, metering and tracking, where 5G eRedCap and 5G NTN open up new possibilities. On request, we can integrate solutions for healthcare, smart cities and other applications.

At the heart of our offering is CosmoLink, a modular evaluation platform for global IoT devices. CosmoLink connects Antennitys’ Multiband PrimeLoop antennas with M.2 cards and open interfaces. This enables developers to test technologies within a shared development environment. We supplement this with, for example, NB-IoT, LTE-M with LoRa, WM-Bus, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GNSS and others.

The platform supports the open M.2, MicroE, Qwiic and STEMMA buses. It also features eSIM, SIM, RF switches and the MIPI RFFE bus for active antenna control, similar to that found in modern smartphones. More than 3,000 compatible sensor and RF PCBs enable the rapid prototyping of different variants.

The workshop combines technical depth with a clear focus on practical implementation. We examine the critical aspects of IoT development at an early stage and in a systematic manner. We look at antenna design, hardware concepts, firmware, dashboards and the cloud. In doing so, we demonstrate how AI is used as a tool to accelerate processes, compare variants and better prepare for decision-making.

Practical materials and exercises

Participants practically develop their IoT idea right through to the technical concept. They draw up a specification in accordance with DIN standards with AI support, evaluate data sheets using AI, select suitable components and derive an initial system architecture from these. In addition, they use prompts to generate an initial draft for a dashboard with a database. Finally, they use open-source software and AI to develop concepts for licence-free antennas.

 KEY TOPICS

  • Further developing an IoT idea into a PoC and MFU.
  • Structure and formulate a set of requirements in accordance with DIN standards with the support of AI.
  • Familiarise yourself with Antennity and the CosmoLink concept, including an open circuit diagram.
  • Expand the platform modularly via open interfaces such as M.2, MikroE, STEMMA and Qwiic-Bus.
  • Integrate MikroE-Click boards online, evaluate them virtually and test them remotely on real hardware.
  • Support the antenna design with open-source tools and AI.
  • Evaluate and compare datasheets using AI.
  • Set up a dashboard and a database using an AI prompt.
  • Develop firmware for PoC and MFU using AI and utilise existing extensions.

YOUR BENEFITS

  • Evaluate IoT ideas in a more structured way and translate them into technical concepts more quickly.
  • Identify critical development issues such as antennas, firmware, dashboards and the cloud at an early stage and address them specifically.
  • Use AI effectively to accelerate the process whilst retaining technical control.
  • Tailor the workshop content to your needs: a questionnaire helps clarify your requirements in advance.

AIM OF THE WORKSHOP

You will learn how to move more quickly from an IoT idea to a robust technical concept and how to minimise typical development risks at an early stage. The focus is on the integration of open hardware and modular bus systems. AI-supported development helps to ease the workload and speed up the process.

TECHNOLOGY INTRODUCTION

  • From the requirements specification to the first working prototype.
  • An open-source approach to hardware, software and documentation.
  • AI as a tool for structuring, preparatory work and acceleration.
  • Interaction between antenna, firmware, cloud and dashboard.
  • Evaluation of technical documentation and development stages using AI.
  • Use of existing open-source components and libraries.

PTIMISATION OF DEVELOPMENT

  • Faster transition from idea to PoC.
  • Reduction in iterations through clear requirements and early structuring.
  • Modular design for easy expansion and variant creation.
  • Reusable circuit concepts and open-source tools.
  • Acceleration of documentation, communication and technical evaluation.
